Supporting Gifted and Talented Pupils

At Branston Junior Academy we believe that we should support all pupils to reach their full potential and that it is crucial that we carefully consider how to engage, challenge and provide additional provisions for children who are considered gifted and talented.

When we identify pupils who are gifted we focus specifically on sporting abilities (dance, football, running etc), abilities within the art (drama, art, music, singing) and those who have natural leadership capabilities.

Additional support/ opportunities for pupils who have specific sporting skills:

Netball team- inclusing participating in a tournament of local schools

Football team- including participating in a tournament at Lincoln City

Attending Swimming Galas

Attending Athletic competitions

Participating in Sainsubury's games

Additional support for pupils who have specific artistic abilities:

Annual drama competitions

Performing with the Lincoln Concert Orchestra

Orchestra

Choir

Art Club including specific projects with local artists

Additional support for pupils who have specific leadership abilities:

School council

House captains

Peer mediators

We also have the capacity for some pupils to learn Latin on a regular basis!
