Managing for @ School of Sucess

The Headteacher (Mrs Rachael Shaw) is part of a very exciting and prestigious 3-year Erasmus+ International Project (2015-2018)  – working with Headteachers and Teacher Development agencies in Portugal, Italy, Spain, Poland and the Netherlands.

Staff from Branston Junior Academy have been involved in many British Council / Erasmus+ projects in the past, that have a particular focus on ‘teaching and learning’. The Headteacher’s project is different as it is looking at ‘Leadership and Management’.

Like the UK; in many European countries ‘education’ is going through many rapid changes….often brought about when new political parties get into power. This project examines three important themes: ‘Autonomy’, ‘Self-evaluation’ and ‘Curriculum’; as the participants explore the various systems and procedures in each country, compare similarities and differences and share best practice.

This project entails various activities and tasks to be carried out by the participants in each of their countries; which are then fed back through online discussions using the etwinning website, email and video conferencing. Over the three years there are group meetings in each of the countries…so all of the participants will be coming to Branston Junior Academy in  March 2018. The headteacher and a Governor work closely together to represent not only our school, but all UK schools, during the project.

At the end of the 3 years, the group will have created various articles andreports and as well as developing an entire Erasmus+ course so that other groups of like-minded participants can explore these subjects further. The project findings will also be used by many education departments in European countries.

Branston Junior Academty is very proud to have been chosen to be part of this exciting project; as it is a great honour to be asked to participate.
